Historic District Renovation Gone Wrong
The Challenge
A contractor underestimated the brick and mortar waste from a 1920s building demo. By noon, their 10-yard dumpster overflowed onto Liberty Street, blocking delivery trucks. I remember the crunch of terra cotta tiles under our boots as we assessed the mess.
The Result
We swapped in a 20-yard roll-off within two hours, using our low-profile truck to navigate the narrow alleys. The crew hand-loaded the last bricks by flashlight to meet the next morning's concrete pour. The historic commission approved the site the following week.
I've never seen a dumpster crew work past midnight to hit a deadline.
